carb counting and Lantus question

can anyone advise me please, I want an insulin pump so I'm doing 4 injections instead of 2 and doing the carb counting, I forgot my lantus injection last night so this morning my sugar was 22 so this morning I took half of my 12 unit dose, can anyone tell me how many units lantus would be right for tonight and how long does it take to go from carb counting to going on a pump, sorry for sounding thick but ive been diabetic 35 years on 2 injections a day, not used to this

I would put the other half in tonight as usual of the lantus, you may then need extra bolus throughout tomorrow day as it is supposed to last 24 hrs. You should be then back on track for tomorrow evening to get your full lantus dose. As for pump , will have to see your consultant, or dsn and they will advise on availability and timescale for your area.
