Hello:) I am new here so forgive me if I am posting this in the wrong area. I have a newly diagnosed T1D 10yr old son. My question is : does anyone have a go to app that you plug ingredients into (for homemade meals) that will give you all the nutritional facts? Trying to avoid having to painstakingly calculate carbs ect. On homemade meals . Any thoughts? Trying to get back into normal life and ditch the pre packaged foods. Many of his favorite meals are not in Calorie King and other such apps. All thoughts are appreciated . Thanks!!

We use weight loss resources. It's not free but the ingredients database is huge and the ability to create and store recipes with full macro breakdown is massively useful. Not sure about whether myfitnesspal allows you to do this.

Cook and count? You input your recipe, or just the ingredients if preferred, and it gives you full nutritional figures for the total and by number of servings. I like it. Developed fir diabetics. http://www.healthapps.uk.com/cook-and-count.html

For nutritional data to input into Carbs & Cals (which I also use), I use this: http://ndb.nal.usda.gov/ndb/search/list

I have it bookmarked on my phone and add the things I want into Carbs & Cals under the 'My Foods' menu.

That is a a US database, so I subtract fibre from carbs and use the non-fibre figure.

You can do this in my app DiabetesDocs for Iphone
you manually enter the name of the dish and enter the amount of carbs - then you can just reuse it Again an again

hope this is what you mean

Hi, I am not sure if I have what you are looking for but as a carb counter I use an app called carbs and cals and it seems to work for me there are lots of options on it from specific food items to ingredients and drinks. I have always found this a useful tool and I hope it helps:pics:

FatSecret, great database average UI, best I've found on android. I hear CalorieKing is good on apple (not sure if its Australia based)

Myfitnesspal is a great resource for this. It also allows you to import recipes from the web. It's available in both app and desktop versions.

A few have recommended it. I guessable I need to make time to play around with it on a desktop but I can't seem to find where all that info is in there? I was told you can also type in recipes with all the ingredients and the app will convert it and give all the nutritional facts . That way you don't have to go through all you recipes and convert them by hand but u can't find that on there either.

I emailed their help desk with no response on this issue ? Any ideas? Thanks
