I started on 1 unit of insulin per 15g carb. Didnt seem to quite cover it so adjusted to 1 unit per 12g carb and all is good!

Insulin ratio's vary from person to person and can also vary from meal to meal (breakfast, lunch, dinner), if you register with the following site it will teach you the principles of carb counting and how to adjust your insulin accordingly:

I was started on a 1:10 ratio but now only breakfast is this. Lunch is 1:12 and supper is 1:15 . These also change throughout the year as well.... just to confuse matters even more!!

hi Bethgabs
i have used different apps but i have found this one to be the best by far http://mydario.com/ Once you have put the information in it works out the insulin to carb ratio that you need to take.It also has a very good food bank to work out the carbs. It will also does your A1C

My insulin ratio is 3 to 4 carbs to 1 unit of insulin the av seems to be 1 to 10 should I be worried.

Do you have excess weight? If so you might have some insulin resistance and hence need a lot of insulin to force it to work. I'm guessing of course, but if weight is a problem then the usual low-carb diet should help

my ratio is 1u 5g carbs, and I dont have a huge amount of excess weight (maybe 4-5 lbs), some people just require more insulin. I also low carb so its not like im eating massive amounts of it.
