I am trying to tweek my diet to get appropriate percentages of calories for carbs/fat/protein.

Currently on 1200 calories for weight loss (and being successful), and no more than 120g carbs, more often than not about 115. These are my percentages for the last 7 days according to myfitnesspal:

37% carbs
41% fat
22% protein

The week before it was

34% carbs
43% fat
23% protein

Does anyone else keep a record, and do mine look reasonable from a nutrition point of view?

Hello, yes I do I both weigh all my food and check on the carbs etc., I have lost weight but my waist line is just the same, but my arms are getting thinner, I use my exercise bike and now I am up to 8 miles a day, walking distance is not possible as well I get loads of pain in my feet, I sweat like a pig in the night, mid day I have my lunch but then dose but feel dizzy when I try to get out of my chair, Roll on the 22 April when I go to desmonds
I may get thing explained.

Sorry you are having a bit of a tough time Phyden, but the weight loss is good, and I am in awe of your 8 miles on your exercise bike! I just have 2 x 20 minute brisk walks each day, but even that has worked wonders on my general well-being. Stick at it!

hi, it looks fine (to me)

id say the important things are

1. do you feel good?
2. are your bloods good?
3. are you going where you want to go with your weight?
4. are you happy eating what you are eating and feel it is sustainable?

Thanks Andy.

1. Yes, I feel good and very well. No symptoms of anything.
2. No idea, not testing at the moment. I will start if my first 3 month review HbA1c results haven't significantly improved. Test due this month.
3. I have lost 20lbs since January
4. I love what I'm eating, am on a roll, and it is sustainable. Hubby thinks I faff too much.

Hi Bluetit
You sound as siund as a pound. Well done on your positive outlook. I wish i could achieve your current behaviour change.
I made a great start last May when i was diagnosed. Changed my eating behaviour, upped my exercise to include a daily dash and lost 2 stone. I felt fab. Then 3 months later I lost the plot and my bs went up and a year on I've slumped into bad ways and put back on 1 stone. Worst of all I'm so downhearted. Any suggestions anyone?

Its really acepting diabetes as a life style change rather than needing to diet.

There is so much good food to eat, its just accepting the lifestyle change is permanent. That can be hard...but its the Individual who makes the choices of food at the end of the day...

Do I feel good, I am in pain all the time but not from my diabetes but from other health problems, but one try's to cope with it
as to checking my blood my Doctors says I will get a check in may, I do wonder how can you control it if you do not know how it is working I was diagnosed on the 27 Jan 2014.
As to my weight well I am down too 74.4 from 80 kl I was hoping to get down to 70 by the time I saw the Doctor in may but well I do not think I will make it.
Am I happing with my eating? not really I used to enjoy the frozen ready meals and salads with salad cream on, as I cannot eat onions cumber radishes it make salads not so good, but well I just carry on, I have always worked to the idea if you go to the Doctor you should do as he says even if you do not agree with it. yes well I am not fat only my stomach and my previous Doctor told me years ago I would have problems with fluids. I feel losing weight is well not quite right, yes I am losing weight but not off my stomach but my legs and arms.
Well Come next Tues I go to Desmonds I am hoping I will get some answers and maybe help over should I be checking my blood daily ok I know I am on tablets for my diabetes I take
Metormin 500mg twice a day and Irbesartan 75mg once a day.
I try and keep my carbs down to 1300 and my calories too 1100 but I do not check my blood but I do have a blood pressure machine and well it started at 145-62-58 and now it is down to 130-63-59 weekly ave. I do the check every morning.

Am I on the right track. Well I do wonder.

It is not like other illness you get a course of tablets and you feel times when things seem to get getting better with things ,well now everything seems the same .

Im sorry to hear about your pain :( it must be awful, im sure if there were a way to stop the pain you would have already tried it,

you dont need someone at desmonds to tell you to test your bloods, you should! this is our only measure to tell us how well we are controlling our diabetes,

if you are not fat, why are you trying to lose the 4 kilos? we are all different shapes, you may find god made you to be that shape

theres nothing stopping you have a small amount of cucumber, radish and onion on your salads, better that than you not enjoy the salads and go for a less healthy option or generally be unhappy, im pretty sure no one ever got diabetes from salad abuse
frozen ready meals are just a frozen version of normal meals with a load of **** added to compensate for the lack of flavour due to nasty cheap ingredients, i cant think of a frozen meal that couldnt be roughly duplicated in a much nicer healthier tastier way, although its more effort

your bp looks good to me (im not medical)

your post sounds like your sad :( this needs to be worked on

best wishes, i wished i had some useful advice

keep your chin up

edit: have you tried jalapeno peppers, gherkins and olives in your salad?, i find they make them more interesting
