Diet drinks - the artificial sweeteners taste vile.
Having to forswear foods I have loved all my life.
Trying to find low carb meals when eating out.
I am back on the strict wagon again, and my BG has come down to where it should be.
However I feel decidedly rough.
I don't recall this level of reaction all the previous times I have gone very low carb.
Been on the wagon for about a week.

Last Monday I had an endoscopy which showed minor acid reflux damage and have been started on Omeprazole to reduce stomach acid.
The list of probable side effects is comprehensive and broad reaching (this may be an understatement) and includes polar opposites such as constipation and diarrhoea and also includes tiredness.

So, carb flu.
I can't recall how quickly you come out of this if you restart carbs.
Would it be realistic to have one carb heavy meal and see if this offsets the symptoms?
Or would it take a couple of days?
Just looking for personal experience from fellow wagon hoppers.
Plus an excuse to have a bag of chips.

All I know from my own experience is that it's better to stick through it, and yes it does get harder each time, hence why I'm more motivated to stick with low carb rather than veering off and back again
Remember "carb flu "is just your internal toddler throwing a tantrum that you've taken it's goodies away. Firmness and distraction and it will soon calm down.
I find a spoonful or 2 of something like double cream or full fat yoghurt quells most cravings - for a while at least
