Hi there how many carbs per day should i go for I'm pre diabetic got told on Thursday there reading of 43 for the test that checks your average as almost everything gives you carb details I reckon I can do it just looking for a rough guide as to how many per day thanks I advance ps thus is an excellent site if I never found it i would probably still be eating the wrong stuff
Depends whether you want to low carb or ultra low carb!! I aim for no more than 40 incl. veg and salad carb, some for 120 ish which is the level accepted as low carb. I am reading Richard Bernstein's book at the mo. As usual I have lost zero weight, but my levels are much better for less rapid acting insulin.

As your new to this, i would recommend a gradual reduction, this will help your body to get rid of the cravings later on.
aim for 150gms 1st week
100gms 2nd week.
50gms 3rd week
Always keep a record of what you eat and your readings before and 2 hours after, you will see what affects your blood glucose levels and what doesn't
Thanks I could cope with 150 a day I'm hoping this actually be in a strange way a good thing to happen as it opens my eyes and will long term make me healthier and more wary of what I eat
