Thank you for that.....what breakfast cereal could he eat......the porridge is for lowering the cholesterol he has it about twice a week ...Hi jojo. His levels are not all that bad, but there's definitely room for improvement.
If you want to try LCHF then I'd aim for about 15 to 20g carbs per meal. A good start would be to replace the oats with something like omelet or bacon and eggs etc.
Well that's the tricky part really, because all cereals are carbs many of us on LCHF avoid them completely. Oats (porridge) is as good a cereal as any, and that's what I used to eat, but now I avoid it to keep my blood sugars down.Thank you for that.....what breakfast cereal could he eat......the porridge is for lowering the cholesterol he has it about twice a week ...
Oatmeal is still a lot of carbs but he could try pinhead oats. I sometimes make a batch and then reheat as the cooking/cooling process is said to turn some of the digestible starch into resistant starch that is really good for gut bacteria and generally very beneficial. I eat my small helping of reheated pinhead oats with cream as milk is too high in sugar. I've been told this is the Scottish way and I have no problems with that.Thank you for that.....what breakfast cereal could he eat......the porridge is for lowering the cholesterol he has it about twice a week ...

Hi jojo,How many carbs should my husband be having in each meal 70 year old active pensioner still working ....trying to maintain low carb high fat diet. ..any advise welcome. ...
Thank you for your input ...my husband doesn't need to lose weight ....his cholesterol isn't problematic ..... just trying to keep it from becoming a problem.... all this is very new to me ...my husband us very fond of food lol and he's missing the things he used to have. ..but he's eating what I give him lol so not that bad yet ...lolHello. I'll chuck another ingredient in the pot and suggest you search the forum for views of cholesterol levels and what they mean. The overall figure which most GPs work to is pretty meaningless and you need to know the targets for the individual levels, as mentioned by @Robbity. Maybe your husband doesn't have to worry too much about it.
