Earlier I had carrot sticks with homemade hummus as a snack without taking insulin...and my sugars went up by 10! Madness. Also is milk bad? Im wondering if cups of tea/coffee are affecting my sugars, I always have skimmed milk as cant stomach full fat

Milk contains lactose which is a form of sugar (or most things ending in 'ose'), not sure though about the type of milk whether it's full fat or semi-skimmed.

Milk doesn't contain a great amount of sugar but is very quick acting, due to the lactose. Anything with ose at the end lactose, glucose, fructose, which is why certain fruits are better than some for us diabetics. I have black coffee, but now and again will have a cappuccino when out after I have bolused for my meal and included a bolus amount for the cappucino.

When lucozade supply is low, I can treat a hypo with a small glass of milk, its that qa for me.

The odd regular coffee/tea with a bit of milk will have different effects on people. Only way to see its test if it affects you.

Milk in tea or coffee doesn't have any effect on me, but a glass would send them high.

Milk in tea and coffee has no noticeable effect on my bg, however there are lacto-free milks available in most supermarkets which have around half the carbs as standard milk.

Ooo I drink quite a lot of tea, but haven't noticed any significant effect on my sugar level - and milk is fairly low on the glycaemic index - skimmed is around 30ish, so generally you wouldn't expect a big spike….but then we are all different :)
