:cat:I had celery ,tomato and cheese salad .,leaving room for some fruit later :)
havnt had Yorkshire pudding or stuffing in ages ,will do soon hopefully ,what type do you use ? is there a low cal one ?

I've started to play around with adding a few more carbs and reducing fat. Nothing major, but like a lot of others, finding it not agreeing with me - I've gone off lots of food lately, most of it makes me feel sick, and if I see another egg or piece of cheese :yuck:.
Yesterday I had some wholewheat pasta for the first time in 6 or 7 months. Only a small serving - about a handful and a half. When cooked, I put a teaspoon of low fat greek yoghurt, tore up some ham, threw a few olives and seasoned it. I enjoyed it more than I have enjoyed anything in months... and when I tested my blood sugar 2 hours later I expected to balk at the meter. I was pleasantly surprised to get a nice 5.8mmol. Very low for me these days. (Considering fish and salad pushed me up to 16 earlier in the week). I also didn't have godawful acid reflux for the first time in months (which I now suspect may be due to high fat foods).

I've come to the conclusion that low carb works for a lot of people, but occasionally some of us might need a more mid-carb approach - whether its permanently or on a temporary basis. I suppose what it boils down to is eating to your meter, and eating to what makes you feel good and healthy.

The only universal diet -
Eat to your meter.

After that, anything and everything is good.:)

the exercise is a sore point today, went for a 20 mile run friday afternoon only to get picked up at 14 miles because there was a problem at work, then today went out to find my hip felt painful right from the off and couldnt run it off so once the hail stones started i ran for home lol......and i ate a pint and a half of jelly :greedy:
Ooooo no not the jelly x

Just enough to go with the meal, so I didn't worry too much about the calories/carbs, as I know what is ok for me. Normal Paxo stuffing, and a frozen yorkie. But again, my mantra, eat to your meter, and find what suits you. You have to live with diabetes, but you've got to live with the diet as well. No point is swopping one problem/worry for another.

i agree with you luceeloo, I couldn't face another egg ,I never really liked em anyway , we are all different ,I am better with some more carbs added too ,I find uncle bens wholegrain brown rice ,three tablespoons full with a beef curry is delicious and not too bad on the meter either .maybe we were too strict on our carb control ?

I think I went from having far too many carbs to the other extreme of not having enough ,now I have to find a middle ground

That's half an hour since dinner, so the peak time.
6.0, so that's about the same as my non diabetic wife, (to be fair, she had the spuds)

I have been low carbing for about 3 weeks. My sugars plummeted to the extent that I have now stopped the glyclazide due to hypos. Now controlled by metformin alone. Lost 7lbs. Blood pressure akso dropped so much I have been abke to stop lisinopril. Monitoring sugars which fall between 5 and 6 mmol regardless of food or exercise. Feel in control for first time in years. For me the next step was insulin. I will be interested to watch my levels and see what happens. Hba1c due march

What amount of carbs do you have daily?
