Carbs in a banana??

Bananas are an unknown quantity as far as I am concerned. It really depends upon how ripe the banana is. For me (T1) I can eat a whole one if it's just off green. When it's yellow/turning black I need at least 3 units to counteract maybe 4.

50 grams of banana weighted with skin on = 15 carbs

A neighbor who used to live in Hawaii said that there are several types of bananas, although only one of these types is normally shipped far enough to be available in regions that don't grow bananas. Could some of these strange values be from measuring the wrong type of banana?

There are many many types of bananas in the world but the majority of commercially grown and exported bananas are Cavendish variety.
