Carbs in my diet

Hiya

I' was diagnosed on Friday and told to limit my carbs - I asked how much I should be aiming for and got a rather vague "less than you're eating now"

I bought myself some really handy books today but am still none the wiser. how many grams of carbs should I be eating a day. I have high blood pressure and high cholestrol as well so am really good at counting my fats and salts everyday and not exceeding my limits. If I have a limit of carbs per day I know I can stick to it. Just been checking out a website that simple says 50% - I really need a gram equivalent

Any thoughts :?

As a rough guide start at maybe 150 gm of carb and see how you get on with that. That is 150gm per day not per meal!If your Blood sugar levels come down with that then ,good,if they don't try reducing the amount of carb slowly till you reach a happy medium.
