Carbs v Complex Carbs

My son is 32 months and diagnosed at 23 months. We carb count and administer insulin quite successfully.
That aside should be dosing at a different rate to match the different types of carbs he is eating?

Dislikes
soaps on telly and people talking about the characters as if they were real.
The only way to be sure, since everyone is individual, is to try it and see, testing frequently. Very distressing probably for a baby.

So called "complex carbs" is simply another term for starches. Sugars have shorter chains of molecules strung together than starches but sugars and starches are all broken down very rapidly in the body into glucose. Indeed hot mashed potato which would be classed as a complex carb releases glucose into the blood quicker than granulated table sugar also called sucrose.

Practically there is no difference between sugars and starches so you would use the same carbohydrate/insulin ratio for both.
