Carbs? What's the story....

Thanx everyone for your help. I think I will 'eat to my meter'. I didn't realise, that my meter was so important. I kinda thought that it ok a few days for anything to show up on it. I know it's all a learning curve, and I've a lot to learn!
 
I can.tolerate carbs very well. So the NHS balanced diet works good for me.

Key is eat to your meter. Then you'll understand what works what doesn't.

Yes the meter is our guide, though the Nhs say it's not needed for type 2, (shows how little they really know & are back in the dark ages.) Same with diet, follow the Eat well plate & as many have found within around 5yrs you could be worse & on insulin etc. Follow a low carb diet & your not putting the old pancreas under pressure so it's more likely to keep going longer b4 insulin etc is need.

Again. Eat well plate works for me and my meter.
 
Thank you to everyone for the advice. Sorry I didn't respond individually, but I read everything and I will definitely use my meter more til I figure out what works for me xx

It's me too - I used to sometimes "mis-see" well before I got diabetes, but now my eyes can be much more inventive - and it makes for interesting and sometimes hilarious reading.

Imagine a nice deep yummy cheesecake with the nutritional values displayed beside it. Or low carb Eton mess, muffins, quiche, sausage and egg 'muffins' I could go on but I am starting to drool.

Sugar not fat is becoming the enemy and I'm only on 10% commission!

Wouldn't it be wonderful to find a tearoom that specialised in low-carb goodies? I'd travel miles for a place like that :D

Yes please. Made some eton mess for my little one this afternoon. Licked the whipped cream spoon and then inadvertently licked the fully monty. D'oh!

Yesterday 4.3 before dinner. Chicken thighs with stuffing and a big baked potato with cheese and beans and 5.8 2 hours later! However I do think I'm the exxeption not the rule!

However, your pancreas could be pumping out massive amounts of insulin to get those blood glucose levels.
 
When a person starts to become insulin resistant, the pancreas increases the amount of insulin to compensate, but at some point, as the degree of insulin resistance increases, it can't produce enough to overcome the insulin resistance and that's when the blood glucose levels start to rise.
 
Of.course. But where do you draw the line? For me I simply cannot get a.blood test that says diabetin. I've done a glucose tolerance test that simply couldn't have been better. I'm not being funny with you @NoCrbs4Me your approach and attitude are one for the main reasons I joined.this site..It's inspirational pure and simple.(@Lexa_x is the main reason I joined this site because she's so hot!) but I simply can't spike my blood sugar!
