Care teams

Hello,

I was just wondered if anybody knew if you could possibly change Diabetic care teams? Our daughter was diagnosed in a hospital of our neighbouring borough. She was also born there as our GP surgery falls under the jurisdiction of that borough. But after being diagnosed at this hospital, we were told that because we lived in the next borough she had to be under that boroughs care...

Anyway, almost nine years later we’ve had a belly full of the so-called care team. It’s never the same doctor and the nurse isn’t up to scratch either! The final straw was today. Our daughter is terrified that she will catch COVID more so since her year group bubble has been told to isolate due to a positive case. The school have said that they are happy for her to home learn for the next few weeks but need something from her care team as back up.
Today we spoke to the nurse about getting this info. She said she’d forward on the email to a colleague to deal with and then adds, “but she shouldn’t give into her anxieties...” how are we supposed to say that to a 13 year old? So I am guessing we are not going to get the back up we need, leaving us with no other choice but to deregister our daughter from school. She is an emotional wreck at the minute and we are now worried for her mental well being so getting a response like this has absolutely infuriated us!
Has anyone ever changed their care teams, without having moved? If so how did you go about it? As I said we live in one borough (on the cusp) but our GP is in the next borough. Any advice would be appreciated!!!

Hi @Elsa79, sorry to hear your daughter's team are being very unhelpful :( you can go to whatever hospital you want, as long as your GP will refer you and the hospital will accept you (your daughter) as a patient. I've had a few times where I have moved house but not moved hospitals and other times where I have asked to be referred to a hospital thats not my nearest one (I've been to a few different hospitals :hilarious:)

I'm sorry you're having a difficult time. Could you consult your GP as the issue includes anxiety? They could be more helpful.
