Carnivore diet

From my reading: These food choices seem to work for the traditional Eskimos but they only obtained Vitamin C from the raw flesh just under the skin of some whales they ate. Without that source of vitamin C they die from the bleeding sickness (Vitamin C deficiency or scurvy).
And on a carnivore diet Vitamin C derives from fresh meat if fresh vegetables and fresh citrus fruit are shirked.
How fresh is the meat (? off the hoof or days old on the supermarket shelves).

Weight for weight liver has more vitC than apples. Source, Zoe Harcombe.

You might find this interesting. I’m trying to get to a full carnivore diet - feel great when I manage it for a period of time.

I recently spent a month in China. Dishes there are wonderful but how many carbs is anyone's guess.

Because I didn't want to inadvertently break ketosis I stuck totally to meat skewers and meat dishes with all accompaniments ignored.

Felt great throughout visit and continued to lose weight.

Low carbing gained ground because people started reporting personal results from adopting it. The same is probably true of the carnivore diet, the reported results of which are to be found here

You can see if your medical condition is among those reported as improved or eliminated.
For those who are still looking for the better diet, because of their personal struggles with health, carnivory certainly looks appealing.

Where n = 1, feeling better is a major determinant for the long-suffering.

In the prescence of fresh meat vitamin C has never been shown to be needed. Sailors who developed scurvy had dried protein.

Vitamin C appears to be essential on a carb diet. On a carnivore diet small amounts of vitamin C are found in the muscle and more in the innards.

I take my vitamin C via lemons and limes.

Thank you, that was my point, is supermarket meat fresh enough?

I would say yes, simply because the carnivore diet is massive now. Sites such as https://zerocarbzen.com, www.zerocarbhealth.com, https://meatheals.com/ and on YouTube Dr Shawn Bakers site https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC5apkKkeZQXRSDbqSalG8CQ have lots of success stories. Whilst anecdotal it is very clear that those who line up to criticise the carnivore diet would not hesitate to showcase scurvy cases, based on the vitriol I have read and watched (there's a lot of hate out there). My point is that many of the persons on carnivore are in the States using grain feed beef from the regular outlets.

What a marvellous article on the carnivore diet indeed, including a great reading list/references at the end. As per usual @Indy51 - many thanks for your marvellous ref postings.
