I have already posted about my getting a stomach bug and the situation I got into by continuing to take my meds. I thought the case was closed because everything is now back to normal however I went to the opticians and had an eye test yesterday because my eyes seemed to have changed. I was told that my glasses prescription was unchanged but I needed treatment for cataracts. Late last year I went for my annual retina screening and the hospital told me there were the beginnings of cataracts and would need treatment in 3-4 years. When I told the optician he suggested that the problems I had had and the widely fluctuating blood sugar levels could have accelerated the condition. Is he right…could it have changed so much in the past 7 months?

Sorry to hear your news Alan.

I don't think anyone here is qualified to answer your query as to whether fluctuating blood sugars accelerated the diagnosis of cataracts earlier than you expected. This is a question you need to ask the specialist.

No consolation for you but this site explains cataracts very well.

Hope all goes well for you and take care.

Catherine.

Hi Catherine

Thanks for the interest and the link. When I see the eye man I will squeeze as much info as I can. The young 'uns may not have an interest but I bet there are a few wrinklies that have.
