Hi, anyone using the Cellnovo insulin pump? I've been on the animas for years now and want a change. Consider Cellnovo. I've just purchased the Dexcom G5,if that makes a difference.
Advice or experience, anyone? Thanks!!

PS for any of the "#wearenotwaiting guys.....I want to take insulin from my phone. Have the handset of Cellnovo be an app on my phone. How long until this is possible?

Hi Rachel, I can't answer on the Cellnovo use experience, as I don't use it, but they don't have a huge user base (they've shipped 629 units in total).

In answer to your second question, I think they're quite a way from that. The pump currently doesn't use Bluetooth, which is a prerequisite for using the phone to control it, so until their bluetooth pump is properly released and in use, the app approach is a while off. You're best placed to ask Cellnovo directly about that, but there was some talk in the management presentation given to investors of the bluetooth pump happening this year, which would make an app more likely in the next 18 months or so.

Hi Rachel
I've been using the Cellnovo pump since November last year after previously using the Animas Vibe and latterly an Omnipod.
One of the main reasons I changed from the Omnipod was the inability to read the Omnipod handset screen in sunny conditions outdoors (same with the Animas Vibe too). The Cellnovo handset is readable in bright sunlight and is also touchscreen rather than button operated. It also has the advantage of automatically uploading all the data from the handset to a server every 30 minutes or so, so no need to copy out settings in case of handset problems. On the downside it has a smaller capacity than other pumps., 150 units and automatically stops exactly 3 days after a change, even if in the process of delivering a bolus which can be a problem. Unlike the Omnipod the pumps are recharged and used again with a new cartridge, also the handset has a rechargeable battery. I have had some issues but on balance I prefer it to the Omnipod and in my opinion a big improvement on the Animas Vibe, I much prefer the lack of a long tube also the pump itself is much smaller than the Omnipod and it can be removed and re-attached unlike the Omnipod.
At the moment it doesn't talk to any glucose sensors but there is talk of collaboration between Cellnovo and Abbott the manufacturers of the Freestyle Libre.
Hope this helps, please ask if you have any more questions about the system and I'll do my best to answer them.
Regards
