Hope you are all well. I've been wearing my Libre 2 plus for a week now and just thought I'd ask a few questions to see if I am right or mistaken etc.
I now know that I absolutely must not eat white bread, white wraps, mashed potato as they give me a real large spike (up to 11 mmol).
If I have wholemeal bread then nothing seems to really happen to the glucose level and it just hovers around 5.2 - 6.1 which is seems to do during the day anyway. This morning I had 3 eggs and 2 slices of the toast (it is 10g carbs per slice) and it hardly moved really - though I do understand that the eggs would help with that.
I was a bit surprised with chocolate. I bought some milk chocolate which was high in sugar and had that with a packet of crisps to see how that would affect me. Surprisingly nothing happened to my glucose level, it didn't spike at all even though I had 10 pieces of choclate (the lidl own brand of diary milk chocolate). Does this sound right?, I thought that the chocolate would give me a big spike and so I haven't really had any for 2 years now. I'm a bit shocked - but I am a bit suspicious that I'm doing something wrong - does it really mean that every now and then I can have chocolate/crisps?
Also, I have been away for the last couple of days so when I woke up this morning I realised I didn't have any food in but I did have a home made sandwich that I didn't eat while away. Normally the sandwich doesn't really spike or anything (turkey, lettuce, tomator, onion, peppers) and I had it as breakfast in bed. Strangely my glucose shot up to 11 mmol - is that because I was lying down as I ate it (I'm washing the bed sheets today so thought I'd be a bit lazy as I don't normally eat anything in bed).
