Hi everyone, I'm trying out the Dexcom G6 for a trial and it'll the my first cgm. Their approved location is the stomach but I'm aware that people wear it all over their body.

As a bit of a stickler for the rules I was going to use my stomach however I regular do abdominal exercises and wondered if they would make it more likely for the sense to fall off.

Does anyone have any experience of wearing a cgm or pump on their stomach and doing ab workouts?

Thanks :)

I have not tried the g6 but I have tried the g4 and I do regular stomach crunches.
My experience was that the sensor did not come off.
Unlike the rules for the g6*, the g4 can be restarted.
However, the number of times i could restart it and the lifespan of the g4 significantly increased (by about a week) when I was unable to exercise.
I never tried placing the g4 anywhere else.

* I have read it may be possible to restart the g6. It may be worth investigating if you want to get more sensoring for your buck.

Thank you Helen! I will probably try placing it on my stomach but a bit further to the side towards the love handles unfortunately the G6 has a hard stop function meaning it cannot be restarted at all, it does last for 10 days though and is cheaper than previous sensors so not too fussed! Mainly just want to make sure if I'm bending my stomach around its not going to come off!!

I know Dexcom say the g6 has a hard stop but the geeks suggested you can restart the g6 after, I think 9 days.
@Scott-C may be able to expand/corroborate.

My wife wears the G5 on the back of her arm. She has been using Dexcom for 2-3 years. Previously used the G4 on her stomach but tried her arm one time and found it to be more reliable with the sensors lasting longer too. Good luck with the trial and post back if you can to share you find it. We ordered the trial package yesterday.

Great thank you, I think I'll try the back of my arm and stomach and then compare the two! Will write a post about my experience with it - first time CGM and how it helps as a still newly diagnosed type 1!
