I have a Animas Vibe pump and have been using a freestyle libre cgm for a while now but have been having problems with them falling off. I've now seen that the dexcom G4 works with the animas and was looking for opinions on it. Anything about using them or past experiences would be great to hear about.

I have never used the libre, but have been on the G4 with a Vibe for about 1.25 years now.

For me, and my skin/lifestyle i can get the full 7 days with just the provided adhesives, at around day 5 it starts to peel off, and by day 7 its usually just hanging on at which point (if not before) i cover it with a second layer of a clear medical adhesive patch which I have to change every 4-5 days and I can get it to stay on for as long as I wish - which is usually 21 days at which point i remove the sensor due to reliability of its readings.

Hi, my 5 year old daughter has dexcom G4, not with a pump, we're MDI. We LOVE dexcom, I honestly can't imagine managing her diabetes without it. Combined with nightscout it gives us soooo much more control, and has restored our sanity and ability to sleep. It's expensive, but we average about 3 weeks for each sensor which improves the overall expense. Totally worth it.

Does anybody use the freestyle libre all the time everyday given the expense is it worth it and does it help ?

jackie i have been using the freestyle libre since july and it is amazing! i love it it has really helped me manage my BG but i still do use my glucose moniter prior to taking insulin to ensure the readings match. my readings tend to differ between the sensor and my glucose meter if i have done something which can change my BG rapidly ie exercise or if i have a hypo otherwise they have almost been the same. i do exercise daily so i use grifgrips on the top which has helped the sensor stay on for two weeks. i would recommend it its given me the reassurence of what my BG is in between checking it with my glucose meter

I've been using Dexcom technology for the past 15 months and the G4 with the Vibe is brilliant but the same is true for the standalone and xDrip kit. The sensors tend to last on average about 3 weeks depending on where they are inserted on the body. I usually cover mine with Tegaderm as its easier to remove backing paper than Opsite but I also apply a tiny smear of liquid cosmetic body glue underneath the shoe part of the sensor and then that helps stop any sensor wire movement happening.

If you live around London area there should be a few of us using cgm at the Sat type 1 meet up which is listed on the forum so there's nothing like chatting to others to find out all the cost saving tricks that can be used.
