Hi @Gazz77,
Toujeo is a product of a US drug company called Sanofi.
Toujeo is glargine, the same insulin as Lantus, but from different manufacturer.
Under their product info products.sanofi.us, it mentions that the concentration of Toujeo is 300 IU per ml ( compared to Lantus at 100IU /ml). I imagine your nurse explained this to you.
BUT in the blurb comparing Toujeo to Lantus it mentions that the the dose of Toujeo needs to be higher than the equivalent dose of Lantus (and quotes some study about this). It does not name the dosage difference.
Certainly if you are taking less than the equivalent of Lantus dose with this new insulin is it any wonder you are needing extra insulin such as your Apidra ?
Perhaps you could point this out to your specialist and also note that this is something discovered despite your eyesight probably not being as good as his/hers !!
Hi, I wondered how to work it your so if I was on 12 u of lantus 6+6, is need about 18 of tourneo, u seem to know what your talking about so does something like this sound OK ( after I confirm first with diabetic clinic)
Hi, thanks for replying, I'm not sure what that is, it fasting bloods test?Any change in basal should be accompanied by a full basal test......
Did you do this?
Hi, I'll start on same dose of lantus and change it as I need but the Dr told me to take 6 tuojeo, I've increased to 10 with not much change but just read on other site to use 20% more toujeo compared to lantus so I'll try it tomorrow, thanks for all replies, take careAre you wanting to know if you can go back to the Lantus or if you can adjust the new Toujeo....?
I have no personal experience with toujeo but in the absence of that info I would start on the same doses as before and then adjust as needed with basal testing..
