Change in Insulin Resistance

I agree with @ickihun about protein and nuts. If I eat too much protein I need to split my insulin bolus. Saturated fats keep me higher and for much longer.
I can snack on a few nuts between meals but too many and I don't come back down. I do much better with mono fats like avocado, olive oil and mayo.

Aren´t nuts usually non-saturated fats ???

I believe they aren' t saturated but some are mono and some poly. They contain carb so too many reduces your likelihood of low carb.

They all vary.

Almonds per 10g 5g fat, 0g sat fat 1g carbs
Brazils per 10g. 7g fat, 2g sat fat 0g carbs
Cashews per 10g. 5g fat 1g sat fat 2g carbs
Hazelnuts per 10g 6g fat 0g sat fat 1g carbs
Macadamia per 10g. 8g fat 1g sat fat 0g carbs
roasted peanuts per 10g 5g fat 1g sat fat 1g carbs
Pecans per 10g. 7g fat 1g sat fat 1g carbs
Walnuts per 10g. 7g fat 1g sat fat 0g carbs

Nuts are high in pufa fats and we don't want too much of that

Brazil are very high in selenium. 2-3 a day gives you all your daily selenium. Be careful not to over eat them. Too much selenium is not good. One benefit of selenium is it chelates mercury so if you eat higher mercury fish, have a nut or too.

Nuts are high in fat an drew fiber and tend to inhibit insulin which can effect me at my next meal. They don't always raise bs but do make me more insulin resistant and bs doesn't come back down.

The fact that you put on weight when on Gliclazide might imply that your daily carb intake is too high?
That was before I cut carbs, I don't know what it would do now, I'm anxious about taking the chance. At least I have 3 months to do what I can to up the anti.

Thanks to one and all for all your input, I certainly have a few things to consider and act upon. I'm actually going for a colonoscopy this morning and although I feel like a old hand (6 in 2 years), I'm thinking about nothing else. Perhaps that's why I didn't totally freak out with the news of my much elevated HbA1c. 24 hrs of no food and having to consume 2 litres of disgusting Moviprep. At least taking Metformin has prepared me for the effects of Moviprep.

I hope the investigation goes well. Nerve damage being investigated? I'm sure they'll get to the bottom of it. Thinking of you as I know what worry can do to bgs.

Very good, very subtle, I like it.

Pleased to say that I had the same doctor as before and that the polyp they found was the same as the one they left behind because it was tricky to get at and more importantly, BENIGN. Biopsy being done so hopefully confirming it's still benign.

I love the sedative they give you, I couldn't stop laughing at stupid things. They don't use air any more, they now use CO2 because it's absorbed by the body (not completely) and doesn't cause so much discomfort. I arrived at 08:30 and I was home by 11:00. Very pleased about that.
