I'm type 2 taking Apidra approx. 7 units each meal x 3 daily and Lantus 30 units am and 15 before bed. Diabetes not too well managed. I had a letter from surgery saying Lantus insulin will be changed to Abasaglar very soon. ok, but my letter said I was identified as being Type 1. I was a little concerned and asked the DN and she just waved her hands and said oh it was supposed to go out to Type 1's first. Still scary though. Its because its cheaper. Has anyone else been told this recently please.

Hi. Have you been taught to carb-count at meals? Having fixed fast insulin doses won't give the best control as you need to match the insulin to your meal-time carbs. Ask you DN for advice or come back to the forum if you can't get that advice and we can comment further.
