Change Over From Animas To Medtronic

As we all know Animas will no longer be supplying insulin pumps. I had a choice of either Medtronic 640G or Accu-Check Insight. Decided to go with Medtronic as it has more to offer for me. Just wondering if anyone currently with one of these could give me a bit more information on what it is like to have one and any tips or tricks you have learnt whilst using it!

Hi @Nicola M I was on a pump refresher course recently and met about 3 other Animas users who are in the same boat, our CCG doesn't offer anything else other than the 640g so they have all accepted this is where they are going, the rep was there to talk through differences which helped them, am sure the medtronic rep will also be happy to talk to you too if you want to check anything before the changeover. I find it very straight forward, it's pretty similar as far as i'm aware in functionality to the Animas except for Smart guard which you can self fund using the Enlite sensor system, it allows the pump to stop insulin delivery if you get too low and it will alert you too if going high/low, it's a pricey system but supposed to be pretty reliable and useful too. I download my pump results once a month on Carelink which my DSN can access, it allows my DSN to check if anything needs adjusting. I also use the sure t cannula sets which are the easiest sets to insert out of all the infusion sets i've tried with the 640g and the most reliable too, they are steel tips and manually inserted. You can disconnect the pump for swimming and bathing too, I also disconnect for running too for more liberation
