Change to Tuojeo?

-has anyone switched from Lantus to Tuojeo?
- can you tell me did you continue taking a little Lantus on day1 of the changeover?
- I understand Tuojeo doesn't really 'peak', what do you think?
- is Tuojeo able to control sugars during sick days?
- have hypos decreased/ blood sugars stabilised?
 
Hi @Dearbhl, As I understand it Tuojeo is a concentrated form of Lantus. I have not taken either.
You will need to ask your DN about sick day protocols and how your long-acting insulin fits in.
Perhaps also ask your DN why Toujeo, rather than Tresiba or Levemir ?
 
We decided on Tuojeo because of its flat 36 hour span. My workday is physically unpredictable, the idea seems to be that Tuojeo works very quietly and I won't get as many hypos, or high sugar readings.
I'd love it if anyone with experience, good or bad, of Tuojeo will feed in. Meeting the DN means taking hours off work.
 
Hi, I'm new to this site! switched from Lantus to Toujeo 5 days ago and struggling. Reading various posts, think I need to change diet , really cut down on carbs? Last HBAC was 50 ?
 
Toujeo is a concentrated form of Lantus with a longer duration of action if the dose is sufficient See products.sanfoni.us - Toujeo) pharmacology. In this information it mentions that it may take 5 days for BSLs to 'settle out' after starting Toujeo.

Have been on Toujeo 2 years plus and it works very well for me. Also switched from Lantus. Only take 9 units in the morning. My Libre line overnight when I haven’t eaten from the middle of the afternoon remains straight as a die!
As regards sick days. I was always told not to adjust basal. Adjustments to levels should be done with bolus. Dosage every 2 hours being dependent on sugar and ketone levels.

Hear ya loud and clear about your initial struggle JoanPH, so far, I gotta say I find with every insulin changeover I spend a few weeks on very low carbs to curb the high sugars as my body adjusts, and while I don't like changing insulin I've so far found every new insulin is slightly less 'extreme' than the previous, as in, with each one, the hypos aren't as strong or immediate, I no longer have the terrible headaches etc...
 
Thanks everyone, all sounds positive, And encouraging to hear that cutting down on carbs may be temporary as I I can't afford to loose more weight? Not to mention...I really like my carbs!!
