FOOTBALL. MY husband is a sports fanatic and watches everything. Most i can put up with just not football.
Hi, thought i'd share this with you in the hope it might work for you if possible. I'm still a newby to diabetes and the DN is still trying me on different things. My sugars have always been high so she's been uping the doses on my meds so i was on 1000mg glucophage sr x2 and gliclizide 80mg x4 daily. While on these my appetite had gone through the roof and i put on weight. I done some revision and found out that januvia sitagliptin is meant to help with weight loss so i took the info down to the docs and persuaded him to let me try them. It's been just over a week now and and my appetite has practilly gone. I dont look for snacks and have reduced my portion size at meal times as my usual size is to much now. Because of this my sugars nearly all week have been around 6 ish. I am so excited it has shown such an affect in such little time. This seems to be my miracle pill at the mo and i only have to take ONE of these so i only take 3 aday now instead of 6 :D ( i bet i've just shot myself in the foot now and i'll be on hear next week moaning about the side affects of my new wonder pill)

Hi this is all new to me also. I've been on Januvia for exactly a week now and I feel so much better! I was on Glucophage x4.a day with my Actos and I put on so much weight I was so depressed. Now off the Actos and my appetite has gone. Have cut down on the Gluco to x2 a day but just want to ask anyone if it's ok to skip the odd meal when you're just not hungry? It just feels wrong to eat when your not hungry and you need to lose weight anyway! Any advice?

Hi Yvonne8, I'm the same where i dont feel hungry enough to eat a meal but i feel i have to just in case of a hypo. I've been eating only a small amount of anything as it keeps your metabolism going instead of going into starvation mode and storing fat. There was a time i would only eat 1 meal aday and maybe a bit of something for supper and never lost weight ( before diabetes ) and couldn't figure out why. Now i know it was coz i didn't eat enough. Sounds so wrong saying i ate a lot more and lost weight  . I think you shouldn't miss a meal even though i know you really aren't hungry. Just have something small.

Thanks. I know that's the sensible thing to do but I put nearly a stone on with the Actos and I'm desperate to lose it again! However sensible is safer!

I've put on about the same and went to the doc and asked to go on the slimming pills. He said i could if after 3 weeks i have a blood test with the DN to see if the new pills are ok for me first. Because my appetite is so little i dont think I'm going to need them after all. I really think your weight will just fall off you now your not on those pills anymore.
