Changes to diet caused by new condition

After 10 years as T2, met and insulin, I have been diagnosed as having gastric erosion with acid in my stomach. What should I be aware of diet wise? I found a web page telling me to cut out all cereals and eat white ( not brown!) bread. Is there a book that will help me with meal choices? I am a very fussy eater, in fact, if I could get by without eating at all, I would! Going round the aisles in a supermarket makes my stomach rise. All help gratefully received.

Um... white bread IS cereal. So if you are cutting all cereals, you won't be having bread whether it is white or brown.

Really sorry to hear about your gastric erosion.
Must be a blow.
Have they told you what causes it? Because I would imagine that this would be key to avoiding further erosion, and repairing what damage you already have.

I had trouble with large portions of protein recently, but the problem wasn't excess acid, is was not enough, so I ended up using digestive enzymes. Worked like a charm. But I have no idea whether that would be a good or bad idea for someone in your situation...

Hope you are OK over Xmas.

If you are on the SR form of metformin, that may be the culprit. After just 6 months on that drug, I ended up with bleeding gastritis and low ferritin. I'm actually really surprised they haven't discontinued your metformin as it is known to cause malabsorption of nutrients like B12 in some people.
