I was told by my Diabetic nurse not to worry too much about christmas day eating as long as i was careful the day b4 and the day after. I must admit i did pig out on christmas day. Eating a full dinner with all the trimming sticky toffe sponge with custard and about 8 chocolates along wih 2 small baileys (I know you will say ,what an idiot) However at about 8pm i tested my BG and was astounded that it was 5.4. I was ecstatic at the results. However the following day they were 10.5 going down to 8.5 and this morning 14.5. I am completly puzzled as to why when i stuff myself with the wrong foods does it go low and then 4 days later go so high. Do i need to inform my GP or just wait hopefully for it to go back to a normal level.

Hi daffy,
Try not to worry about it. Get back onto your diet and you should see your blood sugars normalise in a few days.
Very often the high readings are delayed and you think you have got away with it.

If your meals contained a lot of fat, that will delay the appearance of glucose in the blood.
