I am not happy with my diabetes nurse team. How do I go about changing to another hospital in my area> Do I need to get a referral from my GP? Thanks.

Hello, what’s been happening? I think it depends on how many hospitals are linked with each other in different CCGs. I know my previous hospital was linked with two hospitals, so I had to choose where I wanted to do my appointments. My current hospital I had a choice of 2. But yes, you can ask your GP if he or she can refer you to another hospital but you have to tell your current hospital to discharge you.
 
OK thanks very much! I am just not happy with them and rather than complain and then forever be seen as "the problem patient" by them I would rather see if I can go somewhere else. At the moment I don't go to an actual hospital and I cant remember the last time I saw a consultant and that seems a bit weird to me? I always have to chase up having a check up too.

Oh dear, I'm sorry to hear. Yes only your GP can refer you to see a consultant at a hospital but you have to check with them which hospital they're referring you to.
