Changing Diabetic doctors

Good morning everyone,
Firstly I must say thank you all so very much for the help you all gave me re my insulin overdose.

I contacted my diabetic nurse, who did call me back late that evening and promised she would make an apppointment for me to see her urgently.

That was over two weeks ago. I am not hapy with the care (or lack of) I receive from the hospital in King Lynn so would I be able to change clinics ? It would mean a 100 mile round trip but I think I may get better care in Norwich.

I've got to say I'm not sure, def worth a try though. Best to speak to your GP i would say.

Goodluck and I know how you feel, It took a move of 150 miles for me to start getting sorted (my move was job based not medical just worked out well.)
 
Hi. What is your local surgery like? I'm lucky and have an excellent surgery DN who specialises in insulin use, but it is a lottery trying to find someone who really understands diabetes
 
Yes you can change, like you I had my care at the nearest hospital to me although it was 20+ miles away but after trying for nearly 6 years to try an insulin pump to get better control and not getting a lot of positives I changed hospital , what a difference the care is so different , I feel I am a person who is being listened to , and not made to feel guilty or " naughty" because my control is not within range, I go into the consultants room and I don t notice if they are clock watching and ready to ring the bell and shout ' your 20 mins is up see you in 6 months which turns into 8 months, ' all I can say is change you got nothing to lose , my journey is now 230 mile round trip but so worth it .

I wouldn't swap my consultant for anything, I know I will never be seen on time because he always spends time with everyone and tries his best to answer all your questions. He's happy to dish out the tissues or the jokes and I come away feeling as if I've been valued
If only all Drs were like that.

Thanks for the advice - I have an appintment with my doctor this week so i will ask him if I can change hospitals
