Hello all
Having problems with high bs readings with Januvia and Glimepiride. HbA1c up again from 59 to64. Morning bs in low double figures no matter what I have for previous evening meal. Have been summoned to GP to discuss starting injections. Stick to LCHFdiet Previously on Metformin and then Glicazide. HbA1c was good on Metformin but side effects were horrendous. Weight increase with Glicazide and bs a bit erratic

Have you tried MetforminSR, time release, apparently has lower side effects?

What amount of carbs/fat/protein per day are you eating on LCHF?

Insulin can be a good thing for T2s, as explained here:
http://www.phlaunt.com/diabetes/15478720.php

That website also has info about the benefits and risks of all the meds you mentioned, just search for them by name to find it.

I hope you get to see your doctor quickly. Good luck with whatever decision you make.

Hi,I try to stick to 5% carbs 70% fat and 20% protein but find it difficult. Don't like milk, eggs. Have tried Metformin SR ,Not good for meb

Hi. Metformin SR should be better than the plain version, but some people can't tolerate either. Weight gain with Gliclazide is normally due to having too many carbs. What is your daily carb total? Can you let us know your BMI and age as well to try to understand things a bit better.

Carbs about 150 g.. Age 59(almost60). BMI 28. Have fatty liver disease, told by dietician at last visit a month ago that BS is going to b e difficult to control with diet and will need to be controlled by medication.

Dieticians typically don't understand the value of low carbing, so in their minds, diabetes is often "difficult to control with diet". This doesn't mean it is difficult to control with diet, it just means dieticians think it is.
