The term "big boned" lol repeatedly told this growing up!
Has anyone else had their yearly check up moved to their birthday. Not happy due to other reasons and have explained this. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this. I wasn't notified of the change until I had a message which is one of the reasons I am miffed. Takes me a longtime to gear myself up for these tests due to anxieties.
 
My doctors surgery changed to this method about two years ago, rather than when I previously had it.

Worst thing is now that its just after Christmas - not when I want blood tests lol

Well I am sticking to my guns to be honest its just not what I need. I feel like I am walking death sentence with my bg and just would like some control of my life while I can.
 
Not me, thank goodness as my annual review is due this month and my birthday is in Dec. But it does slip a bit every year as do my eye tests. I can't book them until a week or so before they are due but then there is a 3 week wait each time.
 
To be honest the only thing that really changed for me is that its a bit close to Christmas so its does at least mean I have a slight excuse for slightly higher values - for me on that year they changed it only delayed it by 2 months
 
Yes, mine have also done this but completely missed me off last year, only when I asked about when in seeing them about something else because it had been a while, did they realise and suddenly I needed to make an appointment. Was then told It was changed to my birthday date.
 
Yes - when I had my last pointless "interview" with DN, she said I only had to be checked annually now, and it would be in my birth month (August). It will NOT be on my birthday! I'll see to that.
 
My surgery kind of follow the same approach.
I say "kind of" because they text me a couple of weeks before my birthday asking me to book an appointment. So, I can chose which day I want (within reason and the nurse's availability).
 
Not yet. Have a big birthday this year plus it is Wimbledon. Shan't be going anywhere near the doctors or anywhere else.
 
Yes - My review used to be in July - don't know why - then another annual review came around and I got the text to say come in June, when I asked the DN why the change, she said we call you in around your birthday. I suppose its to make record keeping easier perhaps? So this year the text has come in a few days ago, only just into June. I am not going to respond yet, I'll wait to see if I get a reminder. I don't usually care when my review is, this time I do.
 
Enough to spoil anyones Birthday, cake or not!

Up to now I've never had any annual check.
I ask for hba1c tests about every 6 months . I last asked last August and finally after several cancellations by them got the test in February this year.!

Then low and behold on my birthday last month I got a text "please book your annual hba1c" so I did, but it has already been cancelled once and next appointment is 3 weeks away.
I'm betting I might get one before Autumn, if I'm lucky

Hasn't it occurred to them that people often go somewhere special for their birthday, not a grim clinic! Words fail me.
