Just looking some advice. Sometimes at meal times i forget to check my bloods before i eat. Does anyone have any recommendations on how long after starting to eat its not worth checking as Sometimes when i do they are alredy a bit raised. Would i be better just not bothering on these occasions as it won't be true reading.

Thanks

If you check at two hours it would still tell you if you are in range or not even though you could not tell if you had returned to previous level or not.

If I neglect to test before meal I will usually test at one hour to see what the peak reading was then at two hours to see if back in range then on the odd occasion at three hours if levels not back in range or what I would normally expect.

Can you set an alarm to remind you - I do as I have a mind like a sieve at times in between rinsing peoples hair lol

I don’t check my BS that often these days but when I do it’s usually 1, 2 and 3 hours after eating so I can see the which way they are heading

I had similar concerns when I started (T2D)

I think 15 minutes to 30 minutes was mentioned.?

But if you do go past the window (for accuracy) the advice to still test after is good .

Early on its like a detective novel.
You're just trying to separate the more innocent from the bad guys.

So any spiking will be informative, if not entirely convincing if you don't know the starting level, but would still be of use, if you have a rough idea of what is a 'normal' level for you.

(As in normal being 8 after most meals, spotting a 9/10 would be worth noting. )
