Chemist test result - advice please

Hi all. I have just been to the chemist and got a reading of 6.4 after 7.5 hours fasting. They said that's a bit high?

I've always had a fast metabulism so I was **** starving at that point. My gran is diabetic, I get hungry easy, often have dry mouth and need water but not to the point of peeing constantly, though water does go through me quite quick. Can sleep a night and not pee quite often. I am quite energetic but can flag really quick and need food. Have a flakey scalp, dehydration maybe? Lost quite a bit of weight recently, I'm tall and skinny. Aged 29. Think I got tested about 4 years ago (full blood count) and was ok. Breath has smelt funky past few days despite brushing. Not sure if anxiety over coursework at Uni or if it's this. Muscles feel tired a lot not sure if thats a symptom.

Thoughts please? :)

Just had a thought, maybe I have low blood suger and not high? It's not uncommon for me to get hungry after a few hours and shake :/

Thanks in advance for any advice

Joshua..

None of us will be able to diagnose you over the forum.. 6.4 mmol/l as a single fasting reading is a little high but that could be due to a multitude of reasons and not necessarily diabetes. If you are concerned then you best bet is to go to your GP and let them know you had a fasting test at the chemist and you thought it best to follow up.. They will then probably take some blood for an HbA1c test (an average of your blood glucose over the last 3 months) and also do another fasting or glucose tolerance test.
