Chemo, steroids and high sugar levels

Hi, I'm new to the forum. I have been Type 1 for 26 yrs, Reasonable but sometimes erratic control. The problem now is that I am undertgoing chemo for breast cancer and having to take steroids for 3 days with each treatment, just had my 3rd dose of chemo, 3 more to go (once every 3 wks). For the first few days I rarely get below 20 despite doubling my insulin (CHO dose and correction dose) and cutting carbs to absolute minimum - maybe 80CHO per day. The readings improve gradually over the 3 weeks but for most of the time I have to keep to double the dose ... for the odd hypo at least I can celebrate by eating some carbs!! I was warned to expect higher levels, but to only last a couple of days and have been advised not to increase my Lantus because of the odd night time hypo.

Anyone else experiencing this? Sorry for the long post, any advice welcomed :)
