Today I bought half a kilo of cherries, just for me :) I ate a couple on my way home of course. But now they're staring at me. They want to be eaten very badly and I want to help them just as badly. So I look back and forth from cherries to NovoRapid and I have not a clue what to do.
I've been on mdl for a few months now and already foud out I can eat strawberries and blueberries without bolusing. Havent really tried other fruits exept for a small piece here or there.
The cherries will get eaten, no worries about that, and if I do it wrong I'll do it differently next time, but how do you all inject for cherries, say compared to a cheese-sandwich, strawberries or a serving of spaghetti?
Up to now I'm more a guesser than a counter with carbs and insulin, and that mostly works out right for me.

Same here, but one cherry is to many, the half kilo bag is not enough, as the saying goes for moorish stuff here in Australia.

Sorry I cannot help you @Antje77 :D

Edit: Fixed OP's name.

@Guzzler , you're welcome to share my cherries! They haven't been eaten yet! If we both eat half, the outcome sugar-wise will be only half as bad :) Do you happen to be in the north of the Netherlands before around noon tomorrow?

hmm there is a cherry tree next to the composts at the gardens I volunteer at. Every time I walk past my hand accidently picks a couple. They are delish and by next week will be ripe if the birds leave us any. I was thinking I needed to change my route but if everyone can drop by to help in the gardens for half a day there will be no need and the gardens will be immaculate.

Carb wise cherries and blueberries have a similar content, so if you don't bolus for blueberries maybe try not bolusing for the cherries and see how you get on.

You could make this.

My dietician says cherries take so long to digest you don't need to bolus for them. Similarly with grapefruit. And so I never have and my BG stays pretty stable which, the first time I tried it, was a lovely surprise. Enjoy those cherries!

that looks very yum. I guess I would have to omit the maple syrup. No option there as I have to diet control because my GP thinks I do not have enough diabetes to qualify for medication. Maybe I could melt a little bar of Mister Roth 85% chocolate and dip the cherries in that before dipping in almonds and eating with extra thick cream.
I agree with omitting the maple syrup.
I find that many of these kinds of recipes are easily adapted. I just use them as a guide.

We have yellow cherries at the market right now. I find I can eat a few of them with out my BG raising more then a point as long as I eat them at the end of a meal.
And for three mornings after eating them after dinner my FBG was 1 point lower.
I have a sour cherrie tree in my back yard and they don't rise my BG

I will eat them now, won't bolus for them and see what happens. Won't tell me everything as I changed from Lantus to Tresiba last night so can't really predict my bs right now. Happy with my cherries! :)

So now I know. I definitly need insulin for almost half a kilo of cherries in one go. From 4,6 to 8,2 in half an hour but they were very much worth it!

There are 6grams of carbs in 50g of cherries including the stones! I love them too but can't eat them.

So I have eaten around 50grams of carbs without bolusing. No wonder bs shot up! Can't you eat them because of carbs or for some other reason? If because of carbs you can maybe eat a couple as part of your dinner when eating a particularly low-carb dinner?

Afraid it is the carbs. And I can't stop at two or three, if they are in the house I'll eat them!
