Do colds and chest infections affect blood sugar, I'm full of a cold at the moment and my numbers are all over the place.

Most illnesses affect blood sugar ,unfortunately!!If you are taking anything for your cough etc,watch out for sugar content in the medication .

I'm not taking anything, just moaning constantly to the better half. LOL

im in the same boat doc and have been a week and yes bloods go up and down,just keep an eye on yourself hope u feel well soon

Something I find entertaining (for very small values of entertainment) is that my postprandial + 1/2 hour numbers often seem to jump up with an infection, but this doesn't seem to cause the same symptoms that would happen when my 1 hour numbers go up to the same degree.

Sometimes the BG starts to go up before the symptoms of whatever infection it turns out to be are noticeable.

Do we diabetics take longer to get rid of a cold than normal I've had this chesty tickly cough now for a month and still not shifting it's doing my head in and my other half's head by keeping her awake all night coughing
