I have been advised not to use Chia Seeds as it will interfere with my Warfarin so I cannot use it.Has anyone else have any problems with it please.

I believe it's because Chia is very high in Omega-3 fatty acids. That's about all I know about it I do not take warfarin only aspirin.

Hello @Motherhen2014, I have read that the composition of chia makes the blood a little less likely to clot. This was described as not a worry for most people but when taking anti-coagulants like Warfarin it may be make the adjustment of a person's dose of Warfarin to the right amount more difficult.
Best Wishes for your health !!

Thank you they will go in the bin.

Hi mother hen,
If it changes your INR they will compensate by giving you more warfarin. Unless chia seeds have a lot of Vit k, I doubt a little omega 3 will make much difference.

Now if you eat a lot of broccoli, spinage and cauliflower, that will really drop your INR below limits, because of Vit k content.

It is just essential you eat the same stuff that modifies your INR every day and then the anticoagulant clinic changes your dose appropriately .

The antidote for bleeding from a warfarin bleed is massive doses of Vitamin k.
It's a pity drugs like warfarin and statins are Vitamin k antagonists, that may be the reason why they both cause arterial calcification?

regards
Derek
