Hi there! Everyone on your site has been in this position. The NHS recommend portion control and the healthy plate model. See www.diabetes.org.uk however, I prefer LCHF. If you look at www.dietdoctor.com then the doc who writes this blog gives a full explanation of LCHF and the rationale behind it. I have lost almost 2 stone in less than 3 months. I've also halved my bs. Some people like low GI. Good luck!Hi. I was diagnosed yesterday, but still to have detailed meeting re what I can eat. Am a bit thrown by it all. I always go to a friends on a Sat night and we have Chinese takeaway. Am I best to order chow mein or abstain completely. Thanks

So seaweed is ok even though it's been fried? I love it but thought it would be out of bounds because of the way it's cooked....As well as the above-crispy seaweed and deep fried crab claws are a good choice to add.
Thanks very much. Am in a spin with this and go between being in denial and thinking it's the end of the world. Glad I found this siteHi! I'm not new to diabetes but fairly newbie on here, wish I had discovered this forum a long time ago as I don't feel on my own anymore and I did for such a long time. I find posters are either newbies or 'old hands' who are giving invaluable advice.....I'm an inbetweenie and have learnt soo much since being on here.....so I'm not ready to give advice yet but stick with it Tsmurthwaite I know you'll find help on this site.....
a nice crunchy base
I think you can ask that to the restaurant as well if you specify your food restrictions, chop suey is different depending on the chinese restaurant, most of the time it's only vege (in my experience) but i guess they all have different way to cook it lolI usually make my own Chinese when I do. One dish I have always order is Special Chop Suey. There is no rice or Noodles. Only veg, pork, prawn , beef chicken. Not all Chinese do it as it is a little bit more expensive.
