Hi all

I posted about this before yesterday I had strawberries and chocolate in a cup from a chocolate fountain at a fair event I was at yesterday

My 1.5 hour was 5.3 from 4.8 resting what the heck I've notced so breads shoot like a rocket but chocolate stays relatively constant could it be because the fast acting cells in my body are stopping it where the long acting cells aren't as good e.g why it takes longer on high GI foods?

Anyone else experience this

I will try chocolate again but logic says it should go sky high.

It feels like high carbs kill me not so much the raw sugar?

Chocolate is high in fat and fat reduces the rate of absorption of carbohydrates.
As a result, your BG does not rise as high ... or if it does, it is delayed.
If I have a choco-fest-blowout, as a type1, I need to delay my insulin for 2 - 3 hours.

I have found that I can eat high cocoa chocolate whilst dropping my blood glucose and Hba1c - and also strawberries and cream.
I checked with my meter, so I know the amounts I eat are safe for me.
We all react differently to different foods, which is why it is always wise to check, despite the advice from the doctors.
I also find that after a week of hot weather and salads that more carbs for a single meal is not a problem.

@sheepie123 - Were you also walking about at the time? At those sorts of thing I find I do a fair few steps, which helps drive down the blood numbers too.

I find 25g of Aldi 85% or the Lidl 81% has very little change to my levels.Suits me fine.
