Discovered today at my local Booths Supermarket a 100% cocoa chocolate bar, the only listed ingredients cocoa and pure cocoa butter, made in France by Francois Pralus.It's not as bitter as I would have expected but quite smooth and definitely moreish. Just one big drawback the price at £3-62 for a 100g bar its going to be an occasional treat.

Hi Graham,

I'm not surprised it's expensive. This guy is one of the world's foremost chocolatiers - a winner of the two highest chocolate awards for excellence. I tried a bar of his chocolate a good few years ago in France (before I was diabetic) and it was around double the price of an equivalent bar of Suchard or Lindt even then. But what a taste. . . . . .

As I'm now a Senior Citizen (old fart) I think I'm entitled to a bit of recklessness now and then :lol:
 
You could dilute it a bit, the Co-Op just had a discount on the 85% bars so I have stocked up on a few

£1 for 100g is none too shabby

Hi Graham,

You're lucky - I had a letter last week from HMRC to tell me that I have underpaid my tax for 2007/8 by £0.01p!!! How much must it have cost them (i.e. us) to write and tell me that? But they have very generously said that I can carry it forward to next year, but they may charge interest on it!
 
I've just put my very low carb chocolate birthday cake (today) in the oven -

Revised amounts 30 March - it was too cocoa-y as originally posted

180 g finely chopped carrots
120 g soft cheese
40 g soft marge
2 eggs
sifted together:
120 g ground almonds (include if desired - wheat germ; oat bran; gram (pea) flour)
3-4 tabsp Splenda
15 g cocoa
1/2 tsp baking powder
mix well - if it sticks to the beaters, add a little water

butter the baking "tins"
mix well & bake at 190°C for 28-30 minutes.
I use a square silicone thingy
or a silicone loaf tin & 170°C 40-45 minutes

The mix tastes OK but I'll have to wait for it to cool. I shall halve it & fill with chocolate buttercream. Ice with Splenda sweetened soured cream.

It,s an inhaler that gives you the taste of chocolate. Apparently with zero calories in four different choccie flavoures, and claim to relieve the urge for a chcolate fix.
What seems most interesting is that the chocolate tasting particles remain in your .
What does anyone think?
 
I'd like to know how graham64 managed to get a refund from the Inland Revenue. Given a result as miraculous as that, he should be able cure all diabetics by merely thinking about their pancreases.

Hi Thirsty,
I neglected to say that last year I got another substantial cheque in respect of underpaid working tax credit 8) 8) 8) Also the tax refund was for the 2007/2008 tax year, I'm expecting a refund for 2008/2009 as well.
Please note begging letters will be binned :twisted: :twisted: :twisted:

Hi Ken.

Our dark chocolate contains 73% cocoa solids, other than that it is just vanilla and sugar. The sugar content is approx 25% and then 2% vanilla.

Most diabetics find our dark chocolate fine in small quantities.

Calories are 546Kcal
Carbs 29.2%
Protein 7.9%
Total fat 43.2%
Sat. Fat 26.1%
Monosat fat 15.3%
Polyunsat fat 1.8%

Have tried some and it is delicious. Small quantities mind, no piggin' out. :lol: :lol: :lol:

Edited: 12.15pm today. Should also say per 100 gms. Use with caution.
