Cholesterol - how long for diet to affect it

How long would it take a change in diet to have a discernable affect on cholesterol test levels.

I'm more concerned about it going up rather than down. I've lost weight and exercise more but also eat a lot of red meat.
I'm going to Lloyd's pharmacist soon to get a test and wondered if I should expect it might be different from the test at the doctors just over a month ago.

You can get tested for it at the chemist? How much does it cost do you know please? I'm also very interested in any replies to your question

A friend said it was £10 but don't know how long ago that was. Also said it's about 10 minutes to get the result.
It looks like they want to also have an interview to give advice but don't know if you can just get the result.
It's from Lloyds Pharmacy but other places might do it - look for the ones that do heart and cholesterol.

I'm going to call them on Monday - I'll post back what they say. Also interested to know how quickly you can get an appointment or if one is necessary.

i rang them and have an appointment tommorow :) it costs £15 and takes 20 minutes for the results :) thanks

I have an appointment for next Monday. I think the person who does it is on holiday as they said I can have any time next week.
They also said it's best not to have breakfast - didn't say it's required. I was going to fast for 12 hours anyway.

The cholesterol level isnt as important as your LDL/HDL ratio which should be less than 3! And low triglycerides!!
