I've been following LCHF diet since 9/11/16.
My cholesterol reading has gone up
Not sure if this is good or not really
Cholesterol 5.6
HDL 2.5
LDL 2.8
TRI 0.7
Can someone advise me please.
I take a low dose of Rosavastin was diagnosed pre-diabetic last year and also have Lupus, sticky blood and MS so take various medications including steroids, warfarin and a immunosuppressant.
I was worried about doing a LCHF diet as I've always done low fat low saturate diets. Should I continue with LCHF and see if it's level out eventually as I've not been doing the diet long enough?

My hba1c is down to 38......
Does that mean I am no longer pre-diabetic?

Which bit of your cholesterol has gone up? Those numbers look extremely good to me and the breakdown numbers are ideal. (HDL and triglycerides are exceptionally good) If it is your Total cholesterol that has increased then I wonder if this is simply because your HDL has increased? HDL is GOOD cholesterol.

HbA1c of 38 is BRILLIANT. Anything below 42 is non-diabetic. Very well done. I hope you keep LCHF up. It is working for you :)

Hi and thank you for your quick answer Bluetit1802 :)

Yes it's the HDL that has increased but is the LDL still too high?
I'm really pleased with the hba1c it was 55 last October and GP suggested medication and I wanted to try diet. I've also lost 20lbs since 9/11/16 although I had a little gain over over Christmas but I've only got another 2lbs to lose that and I'll be back to the 20lb weight loss. I'm hoping to lose a further 14lbs. I cannot do a great amount of exercise as I also have MS, Lupus and sticky blood which caused me to stroke a few years ago. Our local MS group has just funded free Pilates classes which I've taken up. I'm so glad I found this group it's been if enormous help to just read other posts.

The standard range for LDL is 0 to 3 so yours is in range. There is also evidence to suggest that if your triglycerides are low, as yours are, then the majority of your LDL will be the light fluffy variety rather than the nasty small hard stuff that causes the problems. There are tests that look at the type of LDL you have, but these aren't routinely done in the UK because they are expensive and because the NHS is behind the times. There are plenty of videos on Youtube about this if you do a search.

Pilates will be excellent for you, as will continuing your LCHF eating plan. Congratulations all round. :)
