Hi. Just had three month blood test results. Since diagnosis in March HbA1c 52 (March) 41 (July) 34 (Oct).

So far, so good, trying to follow a LCHF diet; and, of course, ignoring NHS dietary advice.

The problem is my Cholesterol is going up - 4.1 Aug last year; 5.8 July; 6.3 October - even though my statin was doubled to 40mg in July (after the 5.8 figure)

After some coaxing, I managed to get these figures from the DN today:

TC 6.3
HDL 1.5
TRI 1.7

No figure for LDL, which is obviously the one I am concerned about.

How do I calculate it from the other figures, and how much of a problem is it?

Thanks in advance.

This site will give you an indication: http://www.hughcalc.org/chol-si.php Input the numbers you have, and it will calculate the balance.

It is Trigs you need to worry about and it is a little high. Reduce glucose and fructose intake will hep with that

I watched Associate Professor Dr Ken Sikaris on YouTube today giving a lecture on blood lipids. He said that if TC is 6.6, 1.5 of that could be IDL which is recognised but not separated out in cholesterol figures.

I've read before also, that the Friedenwald formula is useless for people with high or low trigs as it throws it out.

Prof Sikaris said that people who eat high carb have higher VLDL and trigs figures and people who eat high fat use trigs for energy and have lower VLDL, trigs and sdLDL figures.

I wonder how many people take Lisinopril Simvastatin Metformin. Asprin and use Nitromin Spray and if so how do they get on with these and their side effects
