Hi. The important thing about cholesterol is to keep the LDL/HDL ratio right. Many would say the total doesn't really matter. You should also find that a low-carb diet helps with the ratio and increasingly saturated fat is seen to have little effect on blood cholesterol. There are many discussions out there, so read them and make up your own mind on the best way forward, but the low-carb diet with adequate proteins, fats and veg is a good start
 
Mine improved with the Meditereanean Diet by including avocados and olives. Always lower carbs but the olive oil dresings, and other 2 significantly redressed my probs with cholesterol.
