Hello
I am new to this site.
I saw an episode on Drive-ins- Diners and Dives.
It was about a restaurant in Arizona.
They featured a Chorizo made from a vegetable .
Did anyone see the show on this.
Guy said it was the best and tasted just like the real thing.

Thank you
Joe

Why not eat the real thing?

Sorry, for asking.
I am on the wrong site for diabetics.
I will get off this site as fast as I can unregister
Keep in mind we are all different with different taste and cures.

God Bless All

I would be interested! I like eating meat, not so much how it's produced, so finding tasty vegetarian options to eat a bit less meat is always welcome to me!

Not at all, stay and explore. It was a genuine question. Of course we all have our different tastes but your question didn’t seem to relate directly to diabetes or explain the rationale for seeking an “alternative”

Hi, @Joe M , please stay a bit longer!
We're not all as blunt as the above reactions suggest! If you prefer not to eat meat for whatever reason that's perfectly fine. One of our forum rules states that "Diet is a relevant, but sensitive topic and should be treated as such. Please be considerate to other people’s dietary choices.".
If you feel a post is breaching that rule, please use the report button and it will be looked into.

While we have quite a lot of members liking meat because it's very nutritious while also having no carbs, we have many vegetarian members as well! You may want to have a look at the vegetarian diet section: https://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/category/vegetarian-diet-forum.71/

Hi and welcome @Joe M

I am sorry that you had such an unwelcoming greeting!
This forum is for anyone with any type of diabetes, choosing any way of eating that suits them.
Please do not let a few early responders drive you away. Sometimes people forget what it is like posting on a forum for the first time.

I’m afraid I cannot answer your query, but we have an international membership, and hopefully someone here can help.

As the only “blunt” comment left undeleted I’d just like to point out that the reason for wanting alternatives to the the real thing could have been for other reasons not just vegetarianism and the comment was not disregarding or inconsiderate or negative. It was in fact a question seeking more information. Please don’t make your own assumptions about my intentions.
I do accept it was perhaps a little brief and as such open to interpretation but why make the most negative interpretation available?

apologies @Joe M for any misunderstanding.

Hello!

Who knows, you might've stumbled on to the right site for diabetics? Or rather, it might be a happy accident for you? (God working in mysterious ways and all). Plenty of folks here who are vegetarians or vegans. Not one personally, but quite willing to hear different perspectives. And now I'm curious about the sausage, haha.

Hope you are well. Stick around, we might learn from one another.

Am I the only one here who actually watched the program in question the veggie Chorizo looked quite appetizing to me though I must admit I prefer to eat the genuine article I do sometimes eat veggie alternatives to some meat products just for the change in taste.
