Christmas .............BAH HUMBUG


We've had the steak with stilton and a beef joint with stilton slices put in.

We just load up with veg. This year pud is a delucious lemon souffle and cheese n biscuits to follow. May have chicken breast with stilton weapped in bacon for main meat.. Haven't decided the meat yet.

Boxing day is definitely fillet steak from our butcher with stilton crumbled over it...

My lemon souffle with home made non sugar lemon curd is less than 15g carb and fills a large ramekin. We (i) make 4 at a time with loads left over to enjoy licking the mixing bowl...used to have photos on phone to upload the pud picture, but got told off for having so many photos of my food on it!! Had to delete them to free up memory!!!
 
I am still stuck in the old ways I still do Sunday dinners,a day in to relax only go out if I have to,Getting back to Christmas dinner I will have mostly the same but no potatoes or Yorkshire puddings,I will be having one mince pie as I love these will also miss diving into the quality street tin all new to me as I am newly diagnosed.
 
I don't really have much different from before I was diagnosed, I just take the appropriate insulin to cover what I'm eating.

Must admit the steak with stilton idea sounds tasty though.
 
I cook a roast dinner twice a week in the winter months and most Sundays in the summer. We care for my parents and very old people are not particularly partial to more modern meals. It is cheaper to cook a free range chicken and all the veg than it is to eat junk anyway, about £10 including electric, so I much prefer to cook proper food most of the week.
 
Good for you I also prefer to cook my own,it costs about £30.00 just to have a pizza delivered and about £20.00 for mc Donald's,at least that has all stopped.
 
Tom will have steak , I am planning large mushroom stuffed with Stilton ....lots of nice veggies and potatoes roasted in olive oil ...
That is so I can have my triffle treat , and a bit of what I want on Christmas day ...
Nibbles in the morning ...well it is christmas and just for one day ....
Because christmas will be along weekend ...thinking about doing all the roast on Saturday and Sunday ...
Often feel to full on Christmas day , must be psychological .....I have never been able to eat much on the big day ....
My plans may change , but making my ginger cake will not , I will use xylitiol but not sure on the flour yet ...may use a half and half mix ...and serve it with full whipped cream ....
 
And what time will that be lol,I love stuffed mushrooms,love trifle basically not much that I don't like.
 
Hi snowy two years for me now , so know how you feel , I was diagnosed november 2012 , on reflection I might of deprived myself to much at that time , so you enjoy that mince pie

Sorry about your dog he looks like he was wonderful , I can understand you still missing him

Ah cauliflower cheese yummy,love semolina my mum use to make it when we were younger,I don't like tuna so won't be able to come over if you are having that Quick everyone stock up on tuna.

Definitely going to and am going to put lots of cream on it also.
 
Turkey crown again from Ron the butcher, no change there, it's so easy and no waste. I'll serve all the usual veg & trimmings for Mrs DeeJayR and see how I feel about sampling a spud or parsnip. Except I'll make the gravy with non-wheat flour so I can have lots.
She needs her regular mince pies, Toblerone etc so hello supermarket, while I check out a few recipes for myself from the excellent selection on this forum. She doesn't like cream though ... mwahahahah
BG testing will be suspended for a day or two.
 
Love all the Christmas fare , back to work on Boxing Day soon works off the extra's
