Hi,

I know i shouldnt have but my mum made her christmas cake (like always) and sent it to me, i had nothing to eat so i was starving so i had a piece, i pulled off half the icing sugar but ate the other half with a smallish piece of the fruit cake, i was 4.0 before (hungry) just now 2 hours on im 14.0 which makes me wonder....

whats the highest single spike anyone got eating a single thing or meal?

Hmmm...let me see....It was early last year yonks ago but I ordered Beef Szechuan from the chinese and had a small amount of egg fried rice and was still showing 'HI' on my meter at 4 hours which is above 33mmol on my meter so don't really know how high I really went but I felt like ****!

yikes :( that makes my 10.0 sound a bit puny lol

i have never ever had any symptons high or low, but on the way home from work i felt like i was going to fall asleep at the wheel, weird.... no idea if that was my first ever sympton, but i wont be eating any more of the cake lol

Aaaa...I remember that feeling well mate...almost like you've been sedated and you need a couple of matchsticks to keep your eyes open, that all got better luckily when my BG's normalised so I would say it was your higher reading that made you feel so knackered whilst driving.

Was the cake nice though?;)

ohhh christmas cake :( if only ... if i could make one that looked and tasted gorgus but out of broccoli id be a happy girl xt

Christmas cake for me too. Last year, 26.4 without icing! I slept really well, lol. There is no cake, mince pies OR choccie log in my house this year. Don't want the dog to be tempted :)

14.0 - after an ill-considered bowl of rice crispies with semi-skimmed milk, for breakfast, on an empty stomach. That was when I first started taking readings, just after diag, and was already changing my lifestyle, so I must have gone higher before then.

I think I might get my brandy soaked christmas cake out tonight. I was good and didn't ice it :angelic: And there is hopefully enough brandy in it that I will need to keep away from naked flames! :p (and maybe naked men too :wacky:) I'm also going to keep away from my tester for a couple of days.

When I'm good I'm so very very good, when I'm bad...........I'm so very good at it :D

I had a mad moment the day before christmas eve. I was working, had errands to run at lunchtime, then was going major christmas shopping straight from work. So instead of eating my cooked meal on the evening, I bought fish and chips on the lunchtime. Have to say that I really enjoyed every bit. However, three hours later I was sitting at 16.7. Ooops.

Today is my last "blow out" day before I get back into the low carb routine. I prepared myself a plate of cold cuts, a sausage roll, lots of cheese, a few crisps and some homemade stuffing. Unfortunately in the process I forgot that I'm not quite the fatty that I was, and my eyes are definitely bigger than my belly - the rest of my "treat" lunch is in the fridge. So although I was at 10.4 a couple of hours ago, it would have been worse.

Looking forward to doing some real exercise tomorrow!

I had a breeze block sized slab of chrissy cake complete with icing and marzipan. That was 4 hours ago, and I'm still 10.7. I never want to eat anything ever again, I'm giving up food. When's Lent? Q..

Yesterday I must of forgot I was diabetic :) Ate everything in sight today I feel bloody awful constant thirst falling asleep even when we had people at our house I was really embarrassed when I woke up so tommorrow back on track
