Christmas excesses

So how good were you over Christmas....this was my first Christmas taking Type 2 seriously, and I threw caution to the wind and ate what I wanted and drank what I wanted but I don't think I went over the top, I have been too nervous to test my blood so today I am back on track with a Very Low Carb diet and I will begin testing again on Thursday, no particular reason just a random day and a chance for my body to readjust , hope I haven't done to much damage , up until Christmas Eve my BS was low 8's after starting in October at 17, I was struggling to get under 8 and that was on a Very Low Carb diet, at my next appointment my DN will review my medication, so Low Carb and lots of walking for the next couple of months :)

I stuck to my usual regime over Christmas (this is my second Christmas with diabetes and I did the same last year). I wouldn't be able to switch off from worrying about my blood sugar if I ate "bad" food and I also feel lousy if it goes too high so for me it wasn't worth it to have a few "treats" but fair play to those who could :)

I had a roast potato with xmas dinner and a tiny portion of xmas pud. I was surprised how happy I was to leave the carbs off my plate

This is my first Christmas as Type 2 so I was quite cautious. I had one Yorkshire pud with dinner and a mince pie afterwards. Boxing Day fbg was 8.0 (my average is 7.2) and it's been going down gradually ever since. This morning it was 6.9 so I'm doing something right :)

I didn't really have much more than my Christmas dinner with all the trimmings but I did keep to just two roasties and a glass of red wine I don't really drink but had the one as it was Christmas. I don't do desserts I didn't before diabetes never liked sweet stuff very much so I just had some cheese. I didn't test
Boxing Day lunch was at my daughters cold meats pickles with bubble and squeak That is a family tradition on Boxing Day we always have bubble and squeak with lots of different vegetables in it there is no way I would not have that

I was dreading Christmas, as it was the first one being type2. I was quite good Xmas day, I had
1 glass of champagne (dry) and 1 glass of dry white wine, that is basically all I can drink now, as
I get very thirsty. I had Turkey dinner with carrots/swede and 1 parsnip. Pigs in blankets and
Sausage meat. No spuds or gravy. No pudding, but then I did have 4 chocolates ( thorntons plain)
And my doc told me if I cheated on Xmas day I could have a metformin at T.Time, which I did.
2 hrs later I did a reading and it was 6.9 Which is still a bit high, but I'm sure it would of been
Higher without the extra tab. Boxing Day I decided not to have the extra tablet but had 2 glasses
Of wine and cold turkey leftovers. I again had 4 chocolates and 2 hrs later, my reading was 9.4
I have been a very good girl since Boxing Day, and I feel better too, not sluggish, or having stomach
Ache.
