christmas partys

I love Christmas Day, we can all have some nice food, what ever it is, and a nice walk and all that tv for me ...
Lovely k x

I just realized something. No matter if we've been diabetic for ages or just started on this oh so wonderful journey, it does seem that at least we DO have a plan of some sort for dealing with the day(s). Now that is inspirational!

Go us!

Christmas Day, just me( type2 ID) and my dog, so no explanations as to why I'm not eating this or that! Apart from my pudding of "alcoholic" poached spiced plums and yogurt or maybe creme fraiche, I haven't decided on anything else. Hopefully on Boxing Day my daughter will visit so on a food level that'll be more challenging.......diabetic + gluten free, lol

whatever we choose to do on xmas day its really only one day in the diabetic life ... 364 others to get back on track I guess , were only human. I wonder as recently I have heard of two very young people getting cancer who are fit and healthy normal in every way. makes me wonder we are here but once ... and lucky we only have diabeties that can be controlled . so wishing you all merry xmas and lots of love xxx

My xmas day is not going to be any different and normally I get up have 2 weetabix with semi-skimmed milk, unwrap presents, prepare potatoes and veg whilst my mum looks after the roast beef, then have my relatives visit and then its dinner/movie time between 2:30 and 3:30pm with veg, roast & mashed potatoes, pigs in blankets, yorkshire puds, stuffing and gravy. Then in the evening having a xmas party with a few snacks from iceland, small beers and wine from aldi and a dozen ingredients for cocktails.

Same as non diabetics, indulge more than usual over the christmas period, then back to usual after new year on my usual eating plan. Will probably keep a closer eye on levels though and stock up the insulin lol.

I am so pleased with all my hard work this year. Ive got my BG to a good level and ive just managed to kick start my weight loss. I don't intend to ruin all that hard work just for 1 day. I will enjoy my roast turkey dinner with maybe 1 roast spud. But christmas pud and christmas cake may well be postponed until later next year. Think I might have sugar free jelly and cream for after my roast. :-)

Think I might have sugar free jelly and cream    and

I have my first retest (pre diabetes) after Christmas so I am going to be good. I have founds lots of recipes for cakes, biscuits and even doughnuts using almond and coconut flour so I am going to try those for over Christmas.

We get a take-away on Christmas eve, us to be KFC when kids were little but now they like a Chinese. Christmas day is just like a Sunday roast but as its a special occasion we normally have a starter of Prawn Cocktail, wife and kids have xmas pud but I don't bother as I'm not the biggest fan of it so will just have myself a coffee. My big treat is on the night, cheese and crackers with a nice bottle of Merlot wine and a few brandy chasers

Why not whisk the cream into the jelly (my mum used to do it with evaporated milk, but not sure if it's sweetned) and have a Jelly Mousse (sometimes know as Fluff)

Hi!
I am at a place where at the moment I hate all food and would rather not eat. I could easily live on a few biscuits and egg on toast, even though I know thats not perfect, but everything on here suggests to cut down on everything. Life is just stopping us with facts that say more or less everything is getting bad for us. Where does it help us with some consistant advice from the NHS or Private, both contradicting themselves.
If you have thyroid on top then it is even worst as one says u can't have this and one says u can.........
HELP, surely someone of a proffessional background has the answer......PLEASE...

OVER AND OUT FOR NOW
